PHOENIX — Surveillance video captured a tense standoff between a knife-wielding man and officers in a jail.

CBS 5 reports 33-year-old Jesse Bustos Arce was taken into the jail on charges of disorderly conduct.

Arce went to the bathroom and emerged with two knives while shouting threats to police.

Video captured officers as they drew their weapons while commanding Arce to drop the knives.

A detention officer deployed a TASER and subdued Arce without further incident.

The man is believed to have been attempting “suicide by cop,” according to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Arce was placed in the jail’s psych unit following the incident, according to the report.
