【女性】

請抱著決心上警校，女性應該專注訓練，仰臥起坐、俯地挺身等訓練，每週訓練四天。您必須能夠承受訓練的壓力，身心都要做好準備，事先鍛練身體準備讓您能夠承受警校的體能訓練。每天都要鍛鍊，執法工作要求女性必須和男性做同樣的工作，而不是只會站在那裡看男性工作。

【軍人】

執法機構是一個准軍事機構，您必須有良好的軍中工作經歷。您的憲兵工作經驗對您申請從事執法工作會有所幫助。海軍陸戰隊人員可以在服役6 - 12個月便開始申請轉換到執法法單位服務。

【一般人申請到軍中服務】

資格條件

1.  年齡介於17-35歲

2.  美國公民

3.  擁有高中文憑或同等學歷考試證書。

4.  不能患有花粉症、哮喘等影響工作之疾病。

從憲兵橫向轉換到當地執法機構工作較為容易。

◎在美國高中畢業無法直接進警校，因為高中畢業時，男性必須先入部隊接受4個月的軍事訓練，若從事憲兵可接受交通、警犬、特殊反應部隊等之培訓。

◎員警 Rob Dimel:我曾擔任6個月憲兵然後申請轉換到當地執法機構從事警察工作。

◎Mamie English：我在美國海軍醫院服務，與當地執法機構密切聯繫，提供醫療、現場情況反應處理等。

◎美國海岸防衛隊為海上執法機構。在美國海岸防衛隊的工作經歷可以與當地執法機構銜接。

【學歷】

申請從事警察工作，有高等教育學歷者優先。您可在大學主修英語、刑事司法、科學等相關課程。聯邦調查局及某些執法機構規定一定要有大學學位才能申請。具有外語能力可起加分作用。取得刑事司法學歷對您會有所幫助，因具有刑事司法學位者起薪較高。

【警校生的妻子】

軍中經驗可以幫助先生通過警校訓練。在警校接受訓練不能隨便外出，我們必須全力支持、鼓勵先生在警校接受訓練。

Part 5

Women Applicants, Military Personnel, and Support Group. For you women wanting to be a law enforcement officer hear what women already on the inside have to say about getting in  and staying in. If you are currently in the military wanting to be in law enforcement when you get out, now is the time to start preparing.

Getting your feet into the door.

Go to Academy with determination.

Woman should concentrate, sit-up, pushup, run through your four days a week. You have to be able to deal with a lot of stress.  Being able to handle.

Prepare you upper body and mind together.

Physically prepare body strength.

Exercise every day.

You have to work like a man. 

Not just stand there and with the man do.

* Military

Law enforcement is a Para-military agency.

Clean military history. Military police history will be favorable.

* Military to Cop

Marine Corps to cop.  Start 6-12 months to transfer.

*Civilian to Military

Qualify

17-35

Us citizen

High school diploma, GED

15 college credits

Can't have hay fever, asthma.

Lateral transfer from MP to local law enforcement.

Be able to go to the criminal justice degree.

* When graduate from high school, you have to be a MP for 4 months, traffic, K9. Specail reacting team training.

* Officer Rob Dimel: 6 months MP then transfer to the local police.

* Mamie English, US Navy: hospital, work with law enforcement, medical care. People on the scene, quickly response to the scene.

* US Coast Guard: Maritime Law Enforcement Agency. Work in USCG can pass to the local law enforcement agencies.

* Education: higher education is preferred.  English, criminal justice, science.  FBI should have degree.  Some agencies require degree. 

* Before you get into the academy, law enforcement related, business skills, along with the B.A. college degree.

* Peru officer - wait for 5 years and become US citizen and apply.

* Foreign language, criminal justice related degree can gain increase in pay.

* Police wives:

Military experience can help you get through the academy.  Cannot go out, study in academy. Definitely support. Encourage them.
